Cocktail Club: Lynchburg Lemonade
It’s the beat say of the week - welcome to Saturday!! So the awesome folk over at Jack Daniels got in touch and asked if I would work with them to make some awesome and unique content to go along with my Cocktail Club series - of course I said yes and so they sent me to British supermarket Tesco along with a bundle of cash to pick up loads of supplies.
Believe it or not, you don't just have to have JD with coke, there’s so many unique and tasty ways to sip the worlds most famous whiskey - this time I made their Lynchburg Lemonade® recipe and hot damn that stuff is good. If you like a long drink this citrus supreme is perfect. Here’s how to make it…
What you’ll need:
1 part Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7
1 part triple sec
1 part sour mix
4 parts lemon-lime soda (such as Sprite)
Make your sour mix - this is super easy it’s basically a bitter simple syrup. Mix together one part water with one part sugar and bring to a boil. Whilst this is cooling juice 1 lemon and 1 lime - add these to the cooled syrup et voila!
You can make this cocktail directly into your glass (yay for no washing up) - start by chucking in a load of crushed ice, on top of this - add a shot of Jack Daniel’s Old No.7, a shot of Triple Sec (also known as Curaçao) and a shot of your sour mix.
Using your bar spoon or a home utensil (such as your finger if you’re a student) give a spin around the glass to mix together the ingredients. Once it’s all nice and mixed, top up to the top of the glass with lemon-lime soda such as Sprite.
Grab yourself a slice of lemon and stick it in the glass and enjoy!
This is a seriously nice drink, if you like a fresh, citrus drink this is perfect - it’s definitely the sort of drink I can see myself drinking around the pool and on the beach in the summer (in a month, actually…bliss!) - give it a go and let me know what you think in the comments below or over on my Twitter account!
