My Festival Style
This weekend I headed to Hull to Radio 1’s annual festival, Radio 1’s Big Weekend. The festival took over Burton Constable Hall and the BBC kindly invited me down to check out the artists and hang out backstage!
Festival style is huge now, following festivals such as Coachella the UK has caught on and they’re now not all about the mud and wellies, but about looking good and making it onto the ‘best dressed’ lists!
Topman kindly offered to outfit me for both days of the festival and gave me the opportunity to put together two killer festival looks from their latest collections! I made the most of the sparkly VIP area wall to get a couple of pics of my looks.
Day 1 Look
I absolutely love the band tee look, but I haven't ever found one that works for me because usually I don't know the band and I don't want to accidentally meet a fan that thinks I know who they are. My band tee from Topman is perfect because it is spliced you can’t see the detail of the band, just that it is a band tee. It’s cut really nice and is a really nice fit, I think it’s great for a festival look and it’s currently on sale for £10 which is a complete bargain!
I teamed the look with a couple of chains, the Topman multi-row symbol necklaces come in black and gold and make a great addition to an outfit, especially a festival look - they’re relatively long and sit nicely outside a t-shirt or shirt. At £12.50 they make a really nice additional piece to any outfit.
No band tee look is complete without a pair of ripped-knee jeans. I have to admit I wore these on both days…because you know, festival life. The rips in the knee seemed to get bigger and bigger but I do love how they completed the look! If you’re a regular reader of my blog you’ll know I have worn these in a few posts and decided that they would be a perfect addition to my festival style diary. You can pick these up for £38 here.
Day 2 look
Day two was scorchingly hot and whilst I didn't know that beforehand, my outfit choice was actually perfect. Along with those slightly grubby, knees so ripped they’re about to become shorts-jeans from the day before I opted for a super-lightweight shirt that was bursting with summery colours that couldn't have been more opposite from my Saturday look!
It was obviously a good choice as I clocked Dan, the lead singer of Imagine Dragons wearing exactly the same shirt on stage, we’re both style legends! It was so lightweight that it kept me really cool whilst sardined deep in the sweaty crowd but when the evening started to cool off, I didn't feel freezing in it either. This shirt costs £30 and is available here, it’s one of those shirts that’ll be a summer staple, whether forming part of your festival look or your vacation essentials you definitely need a nice lightweight shirt like this one in your wardrobe!
I kept my chains on from the day before because I thought they also went really well with the shirt, and finished the look with a simple college baseball style hat. I am really into hats at the minute and whilst it’s left me with a really terrible forehead tanline, it still protected my head from the scorching sun. At £12 it’s definitely affordable and it’s always worth getting a hat if you’re going to be spending a lot of time in the sun, pick this up here.
So, that’s my two big looks for one Big Weekend - thank you so much to Topman for outfitting me! What are your festival staples? Comment below!
